Taking control: your journey to reach your goals

Adam Davies

Hello, and welcome to our resources section for people living with chronic pain.

We have developed various helpful resources, based on the latest research into the management of chronic pain to help you live the life you want to live, despite your pain.

We invite you to start your own journey. These resources and tools are designed to help you understand pain, take control, and set goals that matter to you. Your coach will be there to guide you, drawing from their experience with chronic pain management to help you find what works best for you. Ultimately, this is your journey, and you set the direction.

Our Resources Are Organised into Three Sections:

Section 1: Making Sense of Pain (Building Foundations)

Understanding why pain occurs and what influences it is an essential first step. We’ve broken this into five sections, each exploring recent findings in pain science:

  • What is Pain?
  • Pain Doesn’t Equal Harm
  • Persistent Pain and Our Overprotective System
  • Why Medications Aren’t Usually the Answer
  • The Pain Cycle

Section 2: Taking Control (Setting Your Milestones)

Here, you’ll focus on what matters to you and begin setting goals (or milestones) for your journey.

  • Acceptance and Moving Forward
  • What Matters to You?
  • Circles of Influence: Focus on What You Can Control
  • Goal Setting

Moving Forward (Walking Your Path to Milestones)

In this section, we outline simple steps for improving pain management. We’ll discuss why these areas matter and explore ways to reduce pain and enhance your quality of life.

  • Managing Stress with Persistent Pain
  • The Power of Breathing
  • Sleep: It’s More Important Than You Think
  • Eating Well to Live Well
  • Getting Moving with Gradual Progress

We’re here to support you at every step, helping you make sense of your pain and take practical actions to improve your life.
